Our Day of Activities:

It is very appropriate that our Flight event is held on Brand Boulevard named after the Business Man and developer of Glendale, Leslie Brand, who had a large part in sparking the early interest for aviation in Glendale in the beginning of the century. With its very rich history of Aviation history, Glendale remains a very aviation friendly community.

The day will be full of displays of aircraft and entertainment and activities for the whole family. There will be something there for everyone.

AIRPLANES ON DISPLAY:

Walk Brand Boulevard and experience what Aviation is all about – right in central Glendale. See the numerous airplanes that will be on display, take pictures, mingle with and talk to aviators and pilots from the entire Los Angeles Aviation community.

In addition to regular airplanes on display there will also be Ultralight Planes as well as Sports Aviation and experimental aircrafts.

PHOTOS:

Have a photo of you or your kids taken in a flying outfit next to or in an actual airplane.

HELICOPTERS

There will be plenty of helicopters flying and on display! Sit in an actual helicopter or go up for a flight if you feel adventurous for the day!

FLYING CARS

Did someone say flying cars? That's right, acutal flying cars. See prototypes of the actual thing (joy-rides not available), discover how soon you'll be able to own one. .

Samson Motorworks – the “Switchblade” with foldable wings. Scheduled to get built and fly by July this year.

The Caravella Roadable Aircraft! Will be on display at our event.

HOT AIR BALLOONS

Find out how to fly a hot air balloon. If weather permits, we will have a tethered balloon, which is a balloon tied to the ground with three or four very strong ropes to keep the balloon from flying away.

SAILPLANES

find out what a sailplane is and how it can fly without an actual engine. See some actual sailplanes on display!

MODEL AIRPLANES – will be on display!

FLIGHT SIMULATORS

Get the feel of flying an airplane in a simulator.

SKY DIVING

Meet sky divers from Los Angeles and see actual sky diving over the city (weather permitting)

WHERE IT ALL STARTED!

Many don't know that Glendale is where aviation started for the west coast.

Learn about the rich Flight History of Glendale. Find out what role Glendale actually played in the history of Aviation.

The Glendale Library will be showing Glendale and aviation history films throughout the day.
